Mary has 18 years experience in advising on complex tax matters and now brings the wealth of that tax & commercial expertise to the clients of Nyhan Tax Advisers.
Mary commenced her career in the tax department of Arthur Andersen.
Subsequent to that she worked as a tax manager in Bank of Ireland Business Banking, specialising in the tax aspects of property. During her career, she progressed to tax director in KPMG and was Head of Tax for the Mercury Engineering Group during the formation of its
international activities. Prior to the formation of Nyhan Tax Advisers, Mary was a tax partner in
RSM Farrell Grant Sparks.
Mary has experience in advising on a wide range of corporate restructurings, sales, management buy-outs, expansions, IPOs and privatisations. She is a practical project leader and co-ordinator who works beside companies in achieving their business strategies. Her property background makes her best placed to work with individuals on the tax aspects of restructurings, whether banking driven or otherwise, required in the current environment so as to enable historic matters to be dealt with. She wishes to bring her international experience to assist Irish companies and businesses reach the international stage and continue to operate there. She focuses on optimal international corporate structures and international employee & HR strategies
Mary has a particular interest in supporting growth companies, medical, food and technology to ensure that their tax strategies are right from the outset. As an example, her proud West Cork links have promoted her profound interest in the Irish food sector, having recently worked with Teasgasc, Enterprise Ireland and Bord Bia in this area. Mary also has a strong technical interest in employee share remuneration and VAT on property. Mary is a regular contributor to various publications on topical tax matters. Mary is a member of the Irish Tax Institute and a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. She is also a committee member for the Chartered Tax Consultants programme with Chartered Accountants Ireland.
